1500th Execution Carried Out — Make Your Impact Today!
Because of YOU, Death Penalty Action made an impact in the campaign to #StopThe1500th execution in the United States since 1977. Sadly, Marion Wilson Jr. was executed with a time of death at 9:52pm EDT on June 20, 2019.
The successful effort to raise awareness of the steady decline of capital punishment in the United States in spite of the big round number was led by Death Penalty Action, a non-profit, ACTION-oriented leader in the anti-death penalty movement.
Your petitions were hand delivered by our team on the ground in Georgia, which was also able to engage in dialog with the staff of the Georgia governor. Co-Director Scott Langley was joined by DPA Advisory Board members Randy Gardner and SueZann Bosler. Shane Claiborne and Abe Bonowitz inspired visibility and action in the UK and Paris.
It is only because of generous financial supporters that Death Penalty Action was able to inspire and support ACTION that increased visibility, concern and protest around the 1500th US execution. Our team in Georgia had tangible IMPACT, and lifting up many of those closest to the center of this horrific milestone.
