Today marks 20 years since DPA Co-Director Scott Langley began what has become his life’s passion — combining photography with the work to stop executions. Scott reflects on the Death Penalty Photography Project here, on the Death Penalty Action Facebook Page. Scott has been documenting our movement for many years. Learn more here.
And of course, Scott is in the middle of the action right now (Tuesday AM 3/26/19), documenting the New Hampshire Senate hearing on HB 455, the bill to abolish that state’s death penalty.
Former Virginia Corrections Officer (executed 60+) and Death Penalty Action Advisory Board Member Jerry Givens will be featured in tonight’s episode of Morgan Freeman’s “Story of God” series on the National Geographic channel. Scott provided several photos from Jerry’s appearance at the 2011 Fast and Vigil for the segment. The episode (Season 3, Episode 4) is scheduled to air this evening at 9 pm eastern / 8:00 pm central. This is the time to ramp up the messaging and the visibility for this issue. Now Death Penalty Action is primed to take advantage of the opportunity.
