Solidarity Protests Picking Up As Execution Spree Continues
WHAT: Death Penalty Action has confirmed the participation of Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) and Congressman Adriano Espaillat (D-NY) among others protesting Friday’s federal execution in Washington, DC. The members of Congress will join Death Penalty Action, WalktheWalk2020.us, Vote Common Good, Red Letter Christians, Pax Christi USA and others in a growing coalition opposed to the ongoing federal execution spree at the time of Friday’s scheduled execution of Keith Nelson in revenge for his murder of Pamela Butler. This event in Washington, DC is taking place simultaneously with execution protests outside the federal prison in Terre Haute, Indiana, and will take place as scheduled, even if the execution is delayed or postponed. Protests opposing federal executions are now occurring regularly in multiple locations across the United States, including Indiana, Washington, DC, Florida, New York, Missouri and California.
