Four Executions Set in the Next Four Weeks
Last night’s Virtual Vigil for Willie Smith was nearly 5 hours long. A powerful community of people come together from across the United States and around the world.
As heartbreaking as the execution was, what I found most inspiring was the re-commitment and desire to do more, which was articulated by speakers and audience members alike.
And Willie’s words:
“Tell them thank you. Do not let despair stop this race….”
What’s next? Please help us build awareness about the next set of executions by signing and sharing these petitions:
- Stop the execution of John Grant in Oklahoma on 10/28
- Stop the execution of David Cox in Mississippi on 11/17
- Stop the execution of Ramiro Gonzales in Texas on 11/17
- Stop the execution of Julius Jones in Oklahoma on 11/18
The newest execution date is in Mississippi. It’s been nearly a decade since the last execution there. Alabama plans to set two more dates very soon.
Death Penalty Action is headed back to Oklahoma next week to be on the ground for two clemency hearings and the first execution in Oklahoma since 2015, which is still set for next Thursday. Please support Death Penalty Action’s work to shine the spotlight on executions in the United States.
DONATE NOW.
Thank you.
Yours in the Struggle,
— Abe
