Gov Lee: Pray With the Prisoners!
For the first time in more than 8 weeks of attempts to convey this invitation to Governor Lee, a commitment was made that the letter would be put in front of the governor today. Watch and share the video here.
What a powerful #March4Mercy this weekend. It all led to the moments this morning when a small group of Tennessee faith leaders and allies delivered to Governor Bill Lee’s office the letter signed by 32 of Tennessee’s 55 death row prisoners with a simple request: Visit and pray with the men on death row.
There are other ways YOU can support and strengthen the impact of this effort;
#1 — Send the Governor an e-mail at bill.lee@tn.gov AND call him at 615–741–2001. Ask him to go pray with the prisoners on death row. Ask him to stop all executions. And send him the below link to the Robert’s sisters powerful letter published Saturday, asking him to “do the right thing.”
#2 — Order and send the postcards!
In this photo is the postcard written and delivered this morning by Death Penalty Action Advisory Board Chairman Shane Claiborne.
#3 — Make a generous donation today to help cover Death Penalty Action’s costs of supporting this effort.
#4 — Continue to pray for the Governor, the prisoners, the legal team working to stop the scheduled execution of Steve West on Thursday, and everyone involved in the system and the work to end executions.
MEDIA COVERAGE has been amazing. Once it is available, we’ll post the Fox17 and News4 coverage from today on Death Penalty Action Facebook & Twitter pages. Please share on your social media.
Thank you! I want to convey a special thank you to my hosts (L&R) here in Nashville, who give me shelter, sustenance and dogs to pet and play with every time I visit this town.
Yours in the Struggle,
— Abe

PS: Please make the most of every opportunity to work for justice this week and every week!
