One Phone Call Can Save A Life: Will YOU Make It?

There have been more than 1100 executions in my nearly 30 years as an abolitionist, but in very few cases have phone calls really made the difference between life and death. Ray Tibbetts’ case in Ohio is one of them. I believe Governor Kasich is getting the message — we must keep the calls going!

Here are three quick things YOU can do today to help stop the next Ohio execution.

#1 — Call Governor Kasich today and every day at 855–782–6925. After a brief introduction from me in my Amnesty International hat, you will be patched through to leave a message for Governor Kasich. Ask him to read the letter from the juror and commute the death sentence of Ray Tibbetts. Learn more about the case and send an e-mail here.

#2 — Visit Death Penalty Action’s Facebook & Twitter pages to share messages about the case with your own networks — please urge people to join you in calling! In particular note:

• Sunday’s op-ed in the Columbus Dispatch about how this case links to the opioid addiction crisis
• Monday’s op-ed in the Cleveland Plain Dealer by a juror who says information was withheld and the death penalty is inappropriate, and
• Articles (AP, Ohio Public Radio, Daily Mail) about how the juror in the case is now calling on Governor Kasich to commute the sentence.
