Death Penalty Action

I have been running ragged but I had to take a minute to share several items:

#1 — Rev. Dr. Jack Sullivan Jr., a member of Death Penalty Action’s Advisory Board, published this very important op-ed about the real needs of murder victims families in the Cleveland Plain Dealer today. Please read and share it. If you would like to take it to the next level, Please print it out and mail it with your hand written #TooMuchDoubt to Gov. Kasich, 30th Floor — Riffe Center, 77 S. High St., Cols., OH 43215–6117.

#2 — You probably heard about the President’s proposal to expand the death penalty as a way to curtail the opioid drug crisis. No matter where you stand on the President, I hope you will sign Death Penalty Action’s petition to congress, asking them to reject the death penalty part of the President’s proposal. There’s some excellent background at the link, too.

#3 — And finally, last night we hit 50,000 signers on the petition to stop the execution of William Montgomery in Ohio. I’ve been speaking and organizing all over Ohio on this case as part of the Ohioans to Stop Executions team. This morning I was at a breakfast with Faith in Public Life in Columbus. Last night with Death Penalty Action Advisory Board members Kwame Ajamu and LaShawn Ajamu (pictured), and as soon as I hit send on this message, I’m off to get DPA Advisory Board Member Derrick Jamison for a gig in Dayton.

Here’s where you can take action to help stop the execution in Ohio, including the main petition, the Faith Leader Sign-on Letter, and the Jewish Faith Leader sign-on letter hosted by DPA Advisory Board Member Rabbi Shmuly Yanklowitz: http://otse.org/case-documents-william-t-montgomery/

And HERE’s where you can help us do this vital, life saving work with your generous tzedaka, tithe, gift, investment or whatever you want to call it. Me, I call if fuel. It let’s us keep doing this work. I can’t thank you enough for empowering me to act on your behalf to stop executions. Thank you!
