Have you ever seen a pig flying?

That’s right — it doesn’t happen.

And yesterday, for the first time since 2007, the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles recommended clemency for a prisoner facing execution. This doesn’t happen.

Death Penalty Action has posted about this on social media in the past several weeks as the father of the victims in this case has been pleading for mercy. Read more about it here.

Today we have a rare action opportunity. Please stop what you are doing and call Texas Governor Greg Abbott — right now — to ask him to accept the recommendation and grant clemency to Thomas Bartlett Whitaker by commuting his death sentence. Whitaker is scheduled to be killed by the state of Texas tomorrow (Thursday) evening, so there is not a moment to lose.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott: 512–463–1782
Share your opinion with his office here: https://gov.texas.gov/apps/contact/opinion.aspx

Thank you. We’ll update you when a decision is made.
