Tennessee’s #March4Mercy & More to Stop Executions Now!
First, welcome to everyone who has recently joined this list. Whether you signed our petition about the newly scheduled federal executions, met us in Washington DC at the Fast & Vigil in front of the US Supreme Court, or found Death Penalty Action another way, we welcome you. Together we will make the difference!
This is a quick update email to let you know of upcoming activities and opportunities for action.
- A number of new execution dates have been announced for October, November and December. We’ll be posting individual petitions soon. Visit Death Penalty Actions’ Action Page to sign petitions for executions scheduled in August.
- Death Penalty Action is supporting the upcoming Tennessee March4Mercy from the death row near Nashville to the Tennessee Capitol Building on August 10. Click here to learn more, order special postcards you can send to Governor Lee, support the action, and join us!
- Death Penalty Action is coordinating the upcoming Ohio Journey of Hope …From Violence to Healing from October 11–20, including presentations by Sr. Helen Prejean, Rev. Sharon Risher, Shane Claiborne, Bill Pelke and more. Details are here, with updates posted regularly.
- The Sheppard Experience 1954 unveils the front page headlines leading to the “Trial byNewspaper” and wrongful conviction of Dr. Sam H. Sheppard on the calendar date 65 years after originally published. Imagine waking up each day to an ongoing soap opera of front page headlines about your family. - If the federal executions scheduled for December and January go forward, Death Penalty Action will be leading the protests outside the prison. We knew this was coming have been preparing since the President was inaugurated.
