December 8, 2019 was the eve of the first scheduled federal execution since 2003. Fortunately, the courts intervened and federal executions scheduled for December 9, 11 and 13 (and two more in January) were stayed. In anticipation of these executions, a convocation of movement leaders and “voices of experience on the death penalty” was convened on December 8th in Terre Haute, Indiana, the home of the federal; death row and the federal execution chamber.
