Today’s execution THAT DIDN’T HAPPEN!
Friend,
William Montgomery was supposed to be executed this morning in Ohio. On behalf of Death Penalty Action, I’m thrilled to be part of the team that stopped it.
Stopping an execution is even more thrilling than when they pass your death penalty repeal bill, which our movement has now done in NJ, NM, IL, CT, MD & NE. In fact, today is the 6th anniversary of that happening in Connecticut in 2012 (Click to see the short video I made six years ago this evening as the final vote was tallied).
In the course of the campaign these past two months, Death Penalty Action ghost wrote and placed op-eds by-lined by authoritative voices the Governor might hear in the Toledo Blade and the Cleveland Plain Dealer. With YOUR support, we managed public events all over the state. And more. It was a team effort, and Death Penalty Action is proud to be integral to that team.
This makes THREE Ohio executions in a row that we’ve stopped. Now we’re working on the fourth, set for July 18. This life-saving work we have been doing as part of the successful Ohio team is not all we do, but today we wanted to celebrate it with you.
Thank you for being a part of Death Penalty Action. Please click here to invest $5, $18 or even more today to keep us going strong.
Thank you!
— Abe
PS: We received a very apologetic note from one our strongest investors over the weekend. This friend had to temporarily reduce his monthly “DPA Sustainer” investment from $100 down to $10 a month. Will YOU help fill the gap? Just click here and check the box at the bottom of the form to become a monthly investor at the level that makes sense for you. Together we are making the difference!
