UPDATE: The First 100 Days

Death Penalty Action
2 min readApr 28, 2021

Today marks the 100th day since Joe Biden took the oath of office and we’re closer than ever to abolition of the federal death penalty!

I invite your help to complete what we’ve started.

In December and January when the Trump execution spree was finally getting attention, Death Penalty Action experienced tremendous growth and a surge of donations from people like you, giving what they could. We seized the opportunity and I hired a team of experts which has accomplished much in just a few months:

Rep. Ayanna Pressley, lead House sponsor of the Federal Death Penalty Prohibition Act of 2021, narrated this amazing short video. Click to watch!
  1. Strong partnerships with Congressional leaders
  2. Delivered 15,000+ constituent emails to Congress
  3. Created the Federal Abolitionist Took Kit so that anyone can take action
  4. Completed full Congressional analysis
  5. Set stage for meetings with key congressional leaders that are kicking off this week and next
  6. Developed congressional sign-on letter with nearly 300 partners so far
  7. Engaged national, state, and local partners in the strategic effort
  8. Earned timely and positive news coverage of our actions and positions

Here’s the hard part. In January we had enough money to get through the first 100 days, and we did it. Now it’s time for the next phase, and I invite your support today to keep my team of dedicated professionals in place. It’s that simple.

We’ve built the machine and it is humming! Will you help keep it running? Seriously, will you donate something today — $10, $100, $1000 or whatever is possible so we can have the resources to get an abolition bill to the White House for Joe Biden’s signature?

We have a real opportunity to end the federal and military death penalty. If you were waiting to give at a critical moment, now is the time to do so and ensure we have the resources needed to go the full distance.
