Death Penalty Action

Earlier today, we got the e-mails from the bill sponsors, asking for our help.

Senator Durbin and Representative Pressley and their colleagues in the US Senate and the US House of Representatives have sent letters to US Attorney General Merrick Garland, urging him to withdraw notices seeking death sentences in current federal prosecutions. They urged him to order federal prosecutors to stop seeing death sentences and to support efforts in Congress to pass the Federal Death Penalty Prohibition Act of 2021.

There’s more urgent action coming soon.

  • Alabama just announced that its nitrogen hypoxia gas chamber is open for business.
  • It’s just a matter of time before South Carolina has its firing squad ready.
  • In just a few short weeks Texas may execute the third honorably discharged US Marine scheduled for execution this summer.

Death Penalty Action is working on all of this, and more. You can help. And right now,

You know the impact we are having together, and because of this special opportunity, I invite you to chip in (again) right now. Your dollars will be tripled, and together we will make the justice system a little more just!
