Bill moved people, and changed hearts and minds on the issue of the death penalty.
Last weekend Death Penalty Action managed Bill Pelke’s return to Columbus, Ohio, where Bill was interviewed on-stage by the pastor of Vineyard Columbus, the largest evangelicalchurch in Central Ohio. Pastor Rich Nathan opened with a sermon about forgiveness, and then Bill shared his powerful story of transformation, and how he helped get the girl who killed his grandmother off of death row.
Bill moved people, and changed hearts and minds on our issue. There were three services, and you can watch video of one, here. Bill’s part starts at about the 16 minute mark. We live-streamed a panel discussion on Sunday afternoon which featured Death Penalty Action co-director Abe Bonowitz, murder victim family members Bill Pelke, Rev. Dr. Jack Sullivan Jr., and LaShawn Ajamu, and also exonerated Ohio death row survivor Kwame Ajamu, who serves as Chairman of Witness to Innocence.
Bill and Abe met with faith leaders in Cleveland and Columbus as we began planning a conference and an Ohio Journey of Hope to take place in October. More on that soon. Please chip in to help cover organizing costs!
