When My Brother Went to Prison, So Did I… He Was Shot by Firing Squad.
When someone is executed, the impact on that prisoners’ loved ones is immeasurably traumatic.

I’m getting ready to join the Death Penalty Action team again, on the ground this time to put a spotlight on the next two federal executions in Terre Haute, Indiana with Bill Pelke, Ashley Kincaid Eve, Abe Bonowitz and others.
I was part of the team in 2017 in Arkansas when they tried to kill 8 men in 11 days, just to use up the drugs before the expiration date. I was in Georgia last year for the 1500th execution. I’ll never forget the shrieks of pain of that mans daughter when she learned her father had been killed.
I do this in loving memory of my brother Ronnie Lee Gardner, who was executed in Utah in 2010. My brother is the last man executed by firing squad in these United States.
When someone goes to prison, their family goes with them. When someone is executed, the impact on that prisoners’ loved ones is immeasurably traumatic. I am going to Terre Haute to be a presence and a voice for the families of the prisoners.
